At last its here

Finally, Im back from my extended "vacation" from the blogosphere.  I know that its been a long wait for all you faithful blog readers (all 5 of you...) but finally, I have returned.

Finals were pretty good.  I think that all in all they were better than the first semester.  I guess i just knew more of what to expect; most teachers dont really change the format from the first semester, just the material that was on it.  I think, but im not exactly sure, that I did better overall, because while some faithful teachers already put our grades up on the online grade service, others probably wont end up even grading them at all.  And in the meantime nobody is even pushing or pressuring them, as final grades arent due for another couple of weeks.  So thats probably going to turn out ok anyway.

We had a spell of ridiculously hot weather here, and it was really crazy.  But now thats over and were back to the dark, dreary wet normality of the midwest.  It was such a day today, (this needed a little modification, as I wrote this last week but never published it) and it was raining like mad all day, and even hailing a little bit.  Ill put the pictures of it up tomorrow.

I saw "Get Smart" with my dad today, and it was pretty good, and I've never seen the origional series and my dad said they changed the dynamic of it.  But as somebody who had never seen the origional I thought it was decent.  It manged to be funny at times and serious at others.  It wasnt too badly done.  3.5 stars. I feel so critical :-)

So Im hoping, after this year's community service hours scare, to be able to plan out and wipe some of next years out this summer.  I was looking for opportunities at my local library, but they had none but i got a reference to this nonprofit that I guess matches up teens with younger kids who have disabilites or are "at risk".  So hopefully I can get my maximum of 7.5 hours off that, and the other 7.5 off PEI, the tutoring program with inner city schools during the school year.  So this way I dont have to be, um, "creative" with my hours.

And its cool because even though the stuff for "teenability" (as its called) is like 15 or 20 minutes away by car, they have an intern who lives really close to me so I can get rides with her, which should make it really easy.

Ill keep you posted and post all the pics ive been meaning to post (phew--so many "post) hopefully tomorrow.

Cheers,
-Adam

I have been meaning to respond for a long while. First, a big congrats to finishing up the year! I know you worked long and hard, and I know you will see the results.

Thanks for continuing to Blog even though your time has been so booked up. I have found it fascinating to hear about your school life (the drug incident, kids being creative with their community hours, your exams, time standing still) and home life (relative visits, fund raisers, day to day activities).

It looks like your summer is going to be a bit interesting with the types of volunteer activities you might do- certainly more interesting then volunteering at the library.

Hey, if your life gets interesting you might have to change the name of this Blog. Bummer!

Yea! Adam's back! Congrats on getting through finals and also for plotting out how to take care of those volunteer hours in advance so there's no panic next year. I'm looking forward to your pictures. Your weather has really concerned us.
Haven't seen "Get Smart" -but of course I remember the tv series. This weekend my husband and I had a marathon "Bourne" fest. We hadn't seen any of them in the theaters and we really loved all three of those movies.
Have a happy week!

hey adam,
nice to have you blogging again.
i bet you're glad it's finally summer, huh? (:
can't wait to see the pictures!

Thanks, Adam, for the fun message at my blog. I left a message there, but just in case you don't get back for awhile: yup, I really think you'd enjoy the Bourne movies. They are PG for violence, but even that wasn't all gory like in some movies. The love twist was believable, sweet, and without any gratuitous junk. The car chases in all three are GOOD. And I liked the really cool views around some of the world's most amazing cities. Matt Damon is surprisingly powerful in his role.
:)

I agree with your dad that they changed the Get Smart dynamic. Think about the name, a double entendre, right? ["Get that guy, Smart" and "Get smart, dummy!"]. But in the movie he is smart, unlike Don Adams, who just thought he was smart. Whatever. Love Steve Carrell, decent movie.

Where are you, Adam? Anything new to say?
