Garage sale!

So today and yesterday, we pretty much completely ignored Memorial Day.  Well, not completely, but partially.  My family held a garage sale this weekend with all the stuff  we had in our basement and attic and it was really ridiculous seeing all the stuff that you had once used and hadnt seen in years.  It was really special because the proceeds are going to the residents of the city of Sderot in Israel, which gets an average of 2 rocket attacks every day from palestinian militants in the gaza strip.  The city is ravaged and between 75 and 95 percent of children there have signs of post traumatic stress.  So it was really special knowing that it was all going to a good cause.  So my sister and her friends came over and ran a lemonade stand and that actually accounted for most of the money, which was mind-boggling to me.  But it was the hottest days of the years so far, with temperatures well into the 80's and everybody was outside and thirsty. And it was really funny because as we finished dinner with my family and one of my sisters friends, and they ran upstairs together, and I just heard my sister say randomly "I love stairs" and it was really funny.  Oh yeah, that and the fact when I was arguing with my dad about something, I said "lobject" instead of "logic" and that reminded me of snelmet, a snail helmet.  Wow. that was a really weird association, I just realized.  Whatever.

Fun post with some important information. Thinking about the kids with post traumatic stress I wonder if ipods could be donated by a large store to send to them. It seems that if they had music they loved to listen to it would be a calming thing for them. I'm thinking even during an attack, unless they'd be advised against that in order to detect where rockets were hitting. Gads, what a sad comment; it makes me sick to have a reason for writing such thoughts. But it's reality now and I think what your family did was a sweet and thoughtful thing.

Snelmet is a great word! I'd like to use that one day ;)

your cool...
